The treasures of Kraków's Dominicans

Our most valuable artifacts

Our museum

The Dominican Museum, situated in our priory in Krakow, presents a collection of valuable exhibits related to the 800 years long history of the Order of Preachers in Poland. Dominicans have been present in Krakow ever since 1222, when St. Hyacinth chose the town as a place to establish a new priory.

About us

History is written by people, their fates, and building relations with others. And so it was with the history of Polish Dominicans. In 1222, St. Jacek Odrowąż (St. Hyacinth of Poland) returned to Poland from distant Italy, where he met St. Dominic. Inspired by him, Hyacinth joined the Order of Preachers, starting in Krakow the Polish branch of Dominican Friars.
