March exhibit of the month
Schatzbehalter der wahren Reichtümer des Heils, Incunabula, printed book.
Stephan Fridolin (1430-1498),
The printed book, which is an example of an incunabula, contains reflections on the life and death of Christ. The creator of the work is a Franciscan preacher Stephan Fridolin, who prepared it in the printing house of Anton Koberger.
The book on display at the Dominican Museum is opened on a woodcut depicting hands with busts of the apostles (left) and saints, including the evangelists, John the Baptist and St. Joseph (right) on their fingers. On the thumbs appear images of the Savior and Mother of God – during the Passion and in glory.
